Why is AAUW for me?

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through education, advocacy and research. With more than 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 500-plus college and university partners. AAUW uses its powerful voice on critical issues affecting women and girls. You can share in AAUW’s commitment to speak out on vital social, economic, and political issues. Education. Civil rights. Affirmative action. Reproductive choice. Sex discrimination. Title IX. Health care. Hate crimes.

Besides providing you with a powerful voice, membership in AAUW provides you with special membership benefits, including member discounts on publications and merchandise, as well as an array of insurance programs and financial services.

Who can join?

If you hold an associate’s or equivalent, bachelor’s, or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university, you can join AAUW as an individual (member-at-large) and as a member of one of AAUW’s 1,300 branches, including 48 branches in Ohio.

If you are an undergraduate in a two-or four-year regionally accredited educational institution, you can join as a student affiliate of a branch or a student-affiliate-at-large.

Qualified institutions are educational institutions that offer recognized associate, baccalaureate, or higher degrees and that have full regional accreditation (including two-year or community colleges) or appropriate professional association approval.

AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

    I am a branch president in California and a friend in Gahanna, a suburb of Columbus, has tried to find out how to join a local branch with no success. I thought I could figure it out and have been unable to navigate this site. Could someone from the branch contact her?
