Trafficking is hot issue for AAUW Ohio and NYT columnist
Trafficking is a hot issue for AAUW Ohio and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, whose July 14 column, “Seduction, Slavery and Sex,” shines a bright light on sex trafficking right here in the U.S.A.
Ohio is fourth in the nation in human trafficking, which is one reason we chose “End Trafficking in Ohio” as the topic of our keynote speech at our AAUW Ohio Public Policy Luncheon, which will feature State Senator Teresa Fedor, who has sponsored SB 235, which will bring Ohio law in line with other states.
The luncheon is just one part of our daylong Leadership Workshop 2010, which will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware. Advocates for women and girls from around our state have been invited to attend the full day’s events, as well as the keynote, AAUW Ohio Public Policy Luncheon: End Trafficking in Ohio.
At the workshop, you’ll also get the latest and best information on taking action on human trafficking in the public policy arena, recruiting new members, pulling great programs out of the box, and launching an easy, low-cost website for your branch.
So don’t miss this stellar event. The cost of the full Leadership Workshop 2010 is just $25, which includes the luncheon.
