Tips for meeting your members’ needs

When you set your membership recruitment and programming goals, start by asking yourself why your current members joined:
- Was it for personal reasons, such as to increase their own knowledge or skills?
- Was it because they wanted to “make a difference”?
- Was it because they wanted to connect with people who were like them and understood them?
Next you might ask yourself how your branch is going to meet the needs of prospective members:
- What are the “hot button” issues that new members want an organization to meet if they join?
- What does your branch need to do to be ready for these prospective members?
