Springfield Branch plans busy summer

2010 May 9
AAUW Ohio’s Springfield Branch has a lot going on. Members will meet Monday, May 17, at 6 p.m. at Panera Bread, the site of their April meeting at which state board member Janet Bohner gave the group a run-down on state convention activities.

The branch will meet the third Monday of each month, including June, July and August at 6 p.m. at Panera Bread or other locations as needed.  Members are encouraged to bring friends or colleagues who may be interested in joining.

Wittenberg University is AAUW Springfield’s college partner. This entitles Wittenberg students to join AAUW national for no charge. This applies to undergraduates in a two- to four-year college or university, who do not hold and undergraduate degree.  Student affiliates receive all AAUW electronic publications and research, and have access to student leadership resources.  However, the program does not apply to graduate students.  Cheri Crothers, Springfield Branch officer, says the focus for the coming year will be recruitment of new and former members to add to the membership rolls. One way Springfield will do that is by planning stimulating programs. The group has also launched a new website.

“It won’t be all work, either. We will have a summer fun event or two so we can all become better acquainted,” Crothers said.
