Noted retired professor to speak in Beachwood March 24
Noted scholar and professor Dr. Mareyjoyce Green will speak at the March 24 meeting of the Heights-Hillcrest-Lyndhurst Branch at 6:45 p.m. at the Beachwood Public Library, 25501 Shaker Blvd.
Her speech will focus on the women’s studies program and the Women’s Comprehensive Center at Cleveland State University, both of which she founded.
Dr. Green recently retired as associate professor of sociology and director of the Women’s Comprehensive Program at Cleveland State University. In her honor, the Department of Sociology established the annual Mareyjoyce Green Graduate Assistantship.
Dr. Green is a graduate of Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. She attended graduate school at the University of Wyoming and Case Western Reserve University. Her teaching, research, and service focus has been in the areas of sociology, poverty, sociology of education, social stratification, race and ethnic relations and sociology of gender.
Dr. Green has served on several boards at the local, state, national and international level. She also served as AAUW Ohio state president.
