Sandusky Branch celebrates 50th anniversary
Many past members of the Sandusky Branch gathered for the branch’s 50th anniversary celebration on March 9, including the first president, who spoke.
Janet Senne reviewed the history of the last 50 years of the branch.
According to other members who reminisced, the branch had 108 members at one time. Activities in those days included a tea for junior high girls that encouraged them to attend college. Two of those girls, now grown, attended the 50th anniversary event. One is a current member of the branch, and the other is a past member, according to Mary Lou Johnson.
In honor of the anniversary, an article by Annmarie Flood was published in the Sandusky Register. AAUW Ohio President Diane Regan sent the branch a certificate of recognition.
