Medina Branch offers two Be WISE Camp scholarships
Medina County Branch AAUW is accepting applications for two scholarships for Be WISE Camp, a science and math camp for girls sponsored by AAUW Ohio each summer.
The camp session is June 13-18 on the campus of Dennison University in Granville.
Enrollment is open to girls entering grades seven or eight in the fall of 2010. The program is designed to develop interest, excitement and self-confidence in young women by offering hands-on activities in mathematics and science.
Limited class size will provide a ratio of 10 students per teacher to encourage maximum interaction and instruction.
The camp will also offer traditional camp activities such as swimming, volleyball and tennis. All sleeping, eating, instructional and recreational facilities will be located on the Dennison campus.
For additional information and application forms, contact Carol Thombs at 330-948-1343 or cb98thombs@verizon.net. Application forms must be submitted to Thombs by Feb. 22.
Information and application forms were sent to counselors at the appropriate grade levels in all Medina County schools.
Each girl receiving a scholarship must live in Medina County and must pay $50 toward the tuition, plus provide her own transportation to and from the camp.
