Watch AAUW member, author Greg Mortenson on PBS
Greg Mortenson, AAUW member and author of Three Cups of Tea, which AAUW widely promoted in the last couple of years, will be the guest on “Bill Moyer’s Journal” Friday, Jan. 15, on WBGU at 9 p.m.
Mortenson is a hugely important ally and leader in the cause of gender equity and girls’ right to education around the world and was nominated for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
Mortenson, who spoke at the AAUW national convention in 2008, has a new book, Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which continues his advocacy of education for girls and women in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The new book picks up where his previous book left off, recounting his ongoing efforts to establish schools for girls in Afghanistan, his extensive work in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan after the 2005 massive earthquake and his talent for building relationships with Islamic leaders.
