Title IX covers discrimination against mothers too

sickdaysactionalertFor AAUW, advancing education opportunities for women and girls is a priority. And these days, that is especially important in the STEM fields. However,  job candidates in math and the sciences who are pregnant or have children often face gender discrimination.

Read what Mary Ann Mason has to say about the subject in her article, “Title IX Includes Maternal Discrimination,” in the Nov. 19 issue of  The Chronicle of Higher Education.

In it, she discusses a major report published  by the University of California at Berkeley this month titled “Staying Competitive: Patching America’s Leaky Pipeline in the Sciences.”
