capitolHouse Democrats on Thursday unveiled the latest iteration of their health care reform bill. According to CQ, the legislation contains a public option that would allow the government to negotiate rates with health care providers and would mandate that individuals obtain insurance coverage and that employers offer it.

The bill is expected to be on the floor of the House this week and is expected to receive little to no support from Republican representatives.

You can take action now

While AAUW does not support any one proposal over another, we believe that failure to achieve meaningful health care reform is simply not an option.

Urge your members of Congress to support legislation that provides Americans with access to quality, affordable health care that is equitable to women.  For more information, see AAUW’s issue page and position paper on health care reform.
